Ancient Lobi Bronze Figurines
The name Lobi originates from two Lobiri words lou (meaning forest) and bi (meaning children), literally "Children of the forest" who settled initially on the left bank of the Mounhoun River dividing Burkina and Ghana. In the late 1770's they migrated into Burkina Faso and their ancient animist traditions of worshipping spirit ancestors and fetishes, combined with skills in bronze workmanship, have provided a rich source of ancient treasures.
